Container - Video Installation Images

CONTAINER - a series of video installations using projections onto surfaces comprising cardboard boxes at the LEVEL Centre.

These installations are a part of a process looking to create a video wall for the SENSE touring performance (a project which is currently under development at LEVEL). Recently, we have spent some time developing ideas and exploring emotional & physical responses with some members of the Advanced Performance Group (APG). Images from these days are shown above and below.

The starting point was a series of installations created by Andrew Williams (Director of LEVEL). Members of APG were able to re-design the digital space, manipulating and blending images/video and mapping the results onto the surfaces of the box wall. This then provided the backdrop for a series of physical improvisations responding to the colour, shape and feeling of the installation.

CONTAINER is the title of a series of installations and projects using objects that can contain other objects (i.e. boxes). We are hoping our experiments will start small and build towards encorporating large metal containers (20ft x 18ft) within the concept. Boxes have been used a lot in the past to create video walls and they provide a series of interesting projection possibilities that can be manipulated by participants, audience and performers in real time.

The images below were taken from a development day held at LEVEL on 1 April 2016.
